Costner has mortgaged his 10-acre oceanfront property in Santa Barbara, California, to fund “Horizon,” a Western movie series he has been developing for over 30 years.

This prime undeveloped coastline in Carpinteria, valued at an estimated $145 million, was originally intended to be the site of a new family home.

In an interview, the 69-year-old actor shared his unwavering belief in the project, despite the financial strain it caused, even putting his relationship with his wife Christine Baumgartner at risk.

This challenging decision underscores Costner’s deep personal and professional commitment to bringing “Horizon” to life.

Among his other notable properties are a 17-acre estate in Carpinteria and a 160-acre ranch in Aspen, known as The Dunbar, which generates significant rental income with rooms available for up to $36,000 per night.
